Restorative Justice Education Training Offerings

Restorative Justice Education (RJEd) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with the mission to use Restorative Justice Principles and Practices to foster culturally appropriate relationships and interactions. 

By teaching the principles and practices of restorative justice to educators, school staff and school boards, superintendents, and social workers, as well as parents and students, they are able to train others in their various communities. 

Most trainings are offered as online courses or virtual trainings that are coordinated and instructed by our trained RJEd Facilitators. For Face-to-Face or in-person trainings, and to create a contextualized plan for your school, district and/or team then please Contact Us.

Intro to Culture of Care

The Intro to Culture of Care training teaches participants the basic principles of restorative justice and the importance of building healthy relationships. During the training's 16 Modules, participants will engage in restorative conversations, community and formal circles, and learn to respond to minor to major misbehavior problems. The basic training is offered in a face-to-face, online, or live webinar format. Upon completion of the training, participants will create an action plan to become a certified specialist in Creating a Culture of Care in Schools using Restorative Justice Principles and Practices.

Implementing Culture of Care: ​Advanced Training​ (LIVE)

This live, virtual advanced training is a deep dive into the basic training. Participants will be prepared to provide the basic training in a professional manner by understanding the thinking behind the delivery of the basic training. This accelerated, 16-module training is designed for the person who will be training others using the basic professional development training program.

Culture of Care: In the Home

Offered face-to-face (one day training 6 hours - can be split over the course of two days), or as an online course in a “Trainer of Trainer” format guided by an RJEd Facilitator.
This  professional development training is designed to engage participants in understanding diverse parenting styles, how to identify the function of children’s behavior and will cultivate key restorative justice principles and practices. This training  is designed to promote a Culture of Care in the home, facilitate connectedness and repair harm caused within relationships.

 Culture of Care for RJ Coordinators
​​& Social Workers (LIVE, VIRTUAL)

This training is for anyone who is in the role of RJ Coordinator or wishes to be ready to assume that role. The training is based on our research, “The Future of School Social Work: Providing Leadership Through Restorative Justice Coordination.”

The LIVE virtual training takes place every Saturday starting March 12 and ending May 7 (excluding Saturday, April 16) from 10am to 1pm EST.

Culture of Care for School Boards
​& Superintendents

In this one-day training participants can discover how to create and sustain a culture of care that will facilitate greater student well-being and better learning outcomes. This training was originally created for the New York State Board of Education, in association with the New York State School Boards Association and the State of New York Unified Court System and is now offered face-to-face and as a virtual training to all interested parties.

Culture of Care Code of Conduct
​Collaborative Rewrite

Assisting schools and districts in infusing the principles and language associated with Creating a Culture of Care based on restorative practices into a District Code of Conduct. 
The process engages all stakeholders in the learning community to identify the shared values of restorative work, align code language to those values, and create a communication plan customized to a school or district.
